Mechanical Design Engineer - Mobile Robotics

Responsibilities

• Design and improve mechanical brackets, mounts and assemblies for sensors, computers and auxiliary components.
• Develop installation concepts that balance component placement, robustness and serviceability.
• Conduct sensor coverage and field-of-view studies with robotics and software engineers.
• Optimise mechanical layouts to reduce occlusions and simplify installation and maintenance.
• Design cable-routing concepts, harness paths, strain relief and component packaging.
• Manage bills of materials, product variants and engineering revisions.
• Coordinate part iterations, tolerances, lead times and rework with fabricators and suppliers.
• Support platform bring-up, integration testing, build documentation and handover to operations.

Requirements

• Required: Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• Required: At least three years of mechanical CAD experience using SolidWorks and formal PLM or BOM-management tools.
• Required: Experience designing mechanical assemblies for industrial, automotive or robotic equipment.
• Required: Hands-on BOM and supplier coordination experience; exposure to sensors, electrical schematics, harnessing or enclosure design is advantageous.
