FAM at Lakeside Family Services (LFS) provides counselling and support to individuals and families navigating challenges relating to family relationships, marriage, separation and divorce. We are looking for an experienced and committed Senior Counsellor to strengthen our clinical practice and service delivery.
The Senior Counsellor plays a key role in providing clinical supervision, guidance and professional support to Counsellors. The role also provides counselling services to individuals and families experiencing family-related challenges, as well as facilitates divorce support and co-parenting programmes to promote resilience and positive family outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Counselling and Clinical Intervention
- Provide counselling support to individuals, couples and families facing challenges relating to family relationships, marriage, separation and divorce.
- Conduct assessments and develop appropriate intervention plans based on clients’ needs.
- Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to support clients in managing family-related challenges and strengthening relationships.
- Conduct specialised intervention programmes and services for parents, children and families impacted by divorce.
2. Divorce Support and Co-Parenting Interventions
- Facilitate divorce support programmes and co-parenting interventions for parents and families.
- Support parents in developing healthy co-parenting relationships and effective communication strategies following separation or divorce.
- Work with children and families to strengthen resilience and promote positive adjustment to family transitions.
3. Clinical Supervision and Professional Development
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision to Counsellors and supervisees to ensure quality service delivery, professional accountability and adherence to agency standards.
- Review and provide guidance on casework, assessment, intervention planning and professional practice.
- Assess supervisees’ developmental and training needs and support their professional growth.
- Provide professional guidance and mentorship to strengthen clinical competencies and practice standards.
4. Practice Development and Service Improvement
- Contribute to practice research, programme evaluation and service improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and enhancement of evidence-informed practices to strengthen service delivery and outcomes for individuals and families.
- Participate in team discussions, case consultations and other professional practice initiatives.
- Contribute to relevant programmes, projects and organisational initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, or Graduate Diploma in Social Work or Counselling.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience working with families or children.
- Certificate in Supervision from a professionally accredited social work or counselling body would be an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong clinical and casework skills with experience supporting individuals, couples and families.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision, guidance and professional support to colleagues.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly adaptable and able to manage diverse client needs and changing service requirements.
- Possess strong leadership qualities and a commitment to developing others.
