THE ROLE:
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chartering Manager/Executive to join their MPP and Dry Bulk team in Singapore. This position focuses on physical freight sales and chartering activities, with a primary emphasis on the Pacific market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the sale and chartering of physical freight and dry cargo shipping services (MPP/Project Cargo and Dry Bulk).
- Execute and support commercial strategies, marketing efforts, and business development across the Pacific region and beyond.
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing and potential customers, brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by providing tailored freight solutions and ensuring timely and effective communication.
- Engage in business transactions with transparency and strong integrity, ensuring the protection of the company’s financial interests, brand, and reputation.
- Coordinate commercial activities with internal departments including operations, technical teams, port captains, and legal.
- Assume financial responsibility for fixtures, voyage execution, and contracts, including negotiating commercially protective terms.
- Monitor and report on voyage performance and provide thorough post-fixture and customer service follow-up.
- Timely escalation of commercial issues, disputes, or customer concerns to management.
- Contribute to the collection and sharing of market intelligence within the global commercial team.
- Provide commercial support and coverage for colleagues when required, including charter-in/out activities, voyage calculations, and report generation.
REQUIREMENT
- A commercially oriented professional with 2–5 years of relevant experience in MPP/Project Cargo or Dry Bulk freight and chartering.
- Candidate with experience in trading houses as Charterers, Traders, Shipbrokers, or Shipowners/Operators.
- Strong knowledge of the Pacific dry bulk trades or MPP/project cargo segment.Proven track record in physical freight trading and chartering with strong negotiation skills.
- Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and make informed commercial decisions within delegated authority.
- A team player who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships across the industry – including clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
