Vessel Accountant
About this job
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned vessels.
Prepare monthly vessel accounts and financial reports.
Process supplier invoices, vessel expenses, and crew-related costs.
Perform bank, vendor, and account reconciliations.
Track vessel operating expenses against approved budgets.
Prepare reports for vessel owners and ensure expenses are correctly recorded.
Work with vessel managers, procurement, crewing teams, and vendors on accounting matters.
Check payment documents and arrange payments for approved expenses.
Support month-end and year-end closing, including accruals and journal entries.
Assist with audits and ensure accounting procedures and controls are followed.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in shipping, ship management, or maritime companies.
Good knowledge of accounting, reconciliations, month-end closing, and financial reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; experience with shipping accounting software is an advantage.
Detail-oriented with good communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
