Software Architect

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Architect / Full Stack Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, React/Angular, Cloud and Enterprise Application Integration.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing secure, scalable and high-performance enterprise applications, integrating financial and enterprise systems, and contributing to application modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.

Experience in banking, financial services, payments or other regulated environments will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, secure and high-performance enterprise applications and microservices.
• Develop backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and JPA/Hibernate.
• Develop and maintain frontend applications using React and/or Angular.
• Design and implement enterprise application integrations, APIs and messaging solutions.
• Integrate applications with financial systems, payment platforms and financial messaging systems such as SWIFT.
• Design cloud-native solutions and deploy applications on AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins and related DevOps tools.
• Drive application modernization, migration, cloud adoption and technology transformation initiatives.
• Identify, analyses and remediate application, dependency and security vulnerabilities.
• Design and optimise database solutions using PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL.
• Support automated testing using JUnit, x Unit, Selenium and Cucumber.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide effective root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, infrastructure and security teams.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including technical discussions, design reviews, sprint planning and solution planning.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, API specifications and integration designs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to development teams.

Mandatory Skills

• Minimum 10 years of relevant software development / software architecture experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience in Microservices architecture and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate.
• Experience with React and/or Angular and full-stack application development.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise application integration and API design.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps/DevSecOps and application security.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, performance and security.

Good to Have

• Experience with SWIFT, payment processing or financial messaging.
• Experience with Kafka and/or IBM MQ.
• Experience with Mule Soft and/or Boomi.
• Experience with Python and AWS MWAA.
• Experience with Docker and GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of SAML, OAuth 2.0, SSO and MFA.
• Experience with financial services, banking or investment management platforms.
• Experience in application migration, modernization and cloud transformation.
• Experience with secure API development and enterprise authentication/authorization.
• Experience with AWS/Azure Kubernetes or containerised environments.
• Experience in performance tuning and high-volume transaction processing.
