Job Responsibilities

The Managing Director will be responsible for the overall management, business operations and strategic development of Mi Cun’s operations in Singapore.

  1. Lead and oversee the overall business operations of the company in Singapore, including business strategy, operational performance, revenue growth, cost control and profitability.
  2. Develop and implement business strategies and annual operating plans in line with the company’s objectives and the Mi Cun brand positioning.
  3. Apply relevant operational and management experience gained from Mi Cun or similar established Chinese F&B chain operations in China to the Singapore business, while adapting operating practices to suit the local market.
  4. Oversee the daily operations and performance of all Singapore outlets, including food quality, customer service, kitchen operations, manpower planning, inventory management and operational efficiency.
  5. Establish, implement and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), service standards, staff training systems and performance management processes across all outlets.
  6. Lead the planning and execution of new outlet openings, including site evaluation, pre-opening preparation, manpower planning, staff training, operational setup and post-opening performance review.
  7. Manage and monitor key financial and operational indicators, including sales revenue, food costs, labour costs, rental expenses, operating expenses and overall profitability.
  8. Lead, manage and develop outlet managers, operations managers and other key personnel. Establish KPIs and ensure that management teams achieve the company's operational and financial targets.
  9. Coordinate closely with the China management/brand team and the Singapore operations team to facilitate the effective implementation of established brand standards, operating procedures, product standards and management practices in Singapore.
  10. Ensure that the company’s operations comply with applicable Singapore requirements relating to F&B operations, food safety, employment, manpower and workplace requirements.
  11. Manage relationships with key suppliers, landlords, business partners and other external stakeholders, and participate in major commercial negotiations where required.
  12. Analyse the Singapore F&B market, customer preferences and competitive landscape, and develop appropriate business development, marketing and expansion strategies.
  13. Identify opportunities for business growth and oversee the expansion of the Mi Cun brand and outlet network in Singapore.
  14. Prepare and present regular business performance reports, financial results, operational reviews and expansion plans to the Board of Directors/shareholders.
  15. Take overall responsibility for the operational performance, sustainable growth and long-term development of the company's Singapore business.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in the F&B or chain restaurant industry, including significant experience in management or senior management positions.
  • Prior management experience with Mi Cun (米村拌饭) in China, or substantial management experience with a comparable established Chinese restaurant chain.
  • Prior working experience in China and strong knowledge of Chinese restaurant-chain operations, management systems, service standards and operational practices.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the Singapore market, particularly the local F&B operating environment, consumer preferences and business practices.
  • Experience in managing multiple restaurant outlets, including operations, manpower, budgeting, cost control and performance management.
  • Proven experience in P&L management, business planning, new outlet openings and business expansion.
  • Strong leadership and people-management capabilities, with experience managing outlet managers, operational teams and other key personnel.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate between China-based management/brand teams and Singapore-based operations teams.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical ability, decision-making skills and commercial negotiation capabilities.
  • Good communication skills in English and Mandarin, particularly for communication and coordination with stakeholders and teams in Singapore and China.
  • Familiarity with Singapore's F&B regulatory and operating environment would be an advantage.
