Role Overview

The Stage Manager coordinates rehearsal logistics, backstage operations, and live show execution. This role acts as the operational bridge between the cast, technical crew, and venue management to ensure performances run seamlessly, on schedule, and in full compliance with venue safety standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Rehearsal Logistics & Show Execution

  • Organize and manage daily rehearsal schedules, ensuring artists, musicians, and crew are fully aligned with cue sequences and run orders.
  • Direct live show operations, calling precision cues for performer entrances, lighting states, sound effects, and stage transitions.
  • Maintain master production run sheets, cue scripts, and performance timelines across all show schedules.
  • Ensure all live performances commence and conclude strictly on time.

Backstage & Technical Management

  • Direct backstage traffic, ensuring wings, quick-change areas, and green rooms remain orderly, secure, and hazard-free.
  • Oversee the setup, tracking, maintenance, and safe storage of all stage props, instruments, and production assets.
  • Coordinate closely with lighting, audio, and visual technicians during sound checks, dry runs, and live shows.
  • Swiftly manage operational contingencies and resolve technical or logistical issues during live performances.

Cast, Crew & Safety Coordination

  • Lead pre-show briefings to communicate cue adjustments, house rules, and special operational requirements.
  • Monitor cast and crew attendance, punctuality, and presentation standards, reporting irregularities to management.
  • Enforce venue workplace safety and health guidelines backstage and on stage at all times.
  • Compile and submit detailed daily show reports documenting timings, technical notes, and cast operational feedback.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in stage management, live theatre, entertainment venue operations, or live event production.
  • Demonstrated capability in calling cues and managing live production run sheets.
  • Practical understanding of stagecraft, theatrical lighting, sound systems, and backstage workflows.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and verbal communication skills under fast-paced live show conditions.
  • Flexibility to work shift hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, aligned with venue performance schedules.
